Anacletus, also known as Cletus, was a Pope of the Catholic Church during the 1st century AD. He served as Pope from c. 79 to c. 91.

Not much is known about Anacletus' early life or his time as Pope. It is believed that he was a Roman by birth and may have been a disciple of the apostle Peter. According to tradition, Anacletus was the second Pope to succeed Peter as the leader of the Christian Church in Rome.

During his time as Pope, Anacletus is credited with establishing the first Christian cemetery, called the "Cemetery of Calixtus", which was located on the outskirts of Rome. He is also said to have ordained many bishops and priests, and to have worked to spread the teachings of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire.

Anacletus was succeeded by Pope Clement I, who served as Pope from c. 91 to c. 101.

Despite the lack of concrete information about Anacletus' life and ministry, he is remembered as an important figure in the early history of the Catholic Church. His contributions to the growth and development of the Church have earned him a place in the list of saints in the Roman Catholic Church.
